A picker having an ordinary day in this block takes home R$ 442 — about 6.4× the rural minimum daily wage of R$ 69. For eleven weeks. We publish this because the alternative is a photograph of somebody smiling in a field with no number attached to it.

The picking share moves with the score, not with the wage — the rate per litre is the same across the farm except on Cafundó. A bag that cups 89 pays the picker the same and earns us more, which is the entire reason anybody plants Bourbon at 1,400 m instead of Mundo Novo at 1,200.
