That is 19.7% of what this bag earns FOB Santos. It takes about 480 litres of cherry to make one 60 kg bag of green coffee, and we pay R$ 1.30 a litre — 15% more on the steep south-facing block, because it is harder. A picker having an ordinary day takes home R$ 442, against a rural minimum of about R$ 69.
The honest half of that: it lasts eleven weeks. We employ 14 people all year and 96 in July, and we have not solved that.

Hand-picked, eight of nine
Selective picking, three or four passes per tree. Only Chapada is flat enough for a machine.
1,120 – 1,410 m
Three weeks between the first block ripening and the last. Altitude is why we can pick that slowly.
22% legal reserve
47 ha of standing Atlantic Forest against the 20% the Forest Code requires. Nothing cleared since the registry opened.
Green only
We do not roast, and we do not intend to start competing with the people who buy from us.

2021, our worst
14.9Off year on top of the worst drought since 1961.
Should have been our best year in a decade. The July 2021 frosts burned back the new wood the 2022 crop was going to grow on, and we took 17.3 in an on year. That is the whole argument for buying from a farm rather than from a description of a farm — you can see the bad years, because they are on the chart.
Not here, not under our name, not as a sideline. We grow it and we sell it green. Every farm that starts roasting starts competing with the people who buy from it, and we would rather have the buyers.
One of this season's nine lots cupped 83.75. It is on the traceability page with that number next to it and it went to the exchange at the commodity differential. It is honest coffee. It is not specialty coffee, and the difference is about 45 US cents a pound.
Two blocks — T08 Baixo and T09 Cafundó, 24.1 ha between them — have a CAR polygon that overlaps our neighbour's along the old boundary. The overlap is about 2.4 ha and it is a registry error from 2014, not a land dispute. Until the state reconciles it we will not make an EUDR declaration on coffee from those blocks, so they are sold outside the EU only.
If a lot says Quartzo it grew here, on the block named on the bag. In a short year that means we simply have less to sell, which has happened twice in the last decade.
Tell us the score band and the process you are looking for and we will send the two closest lots. We stopped giving away kilo samples in 2023 and we will explain why if you ask.
